This unit cannot be better. It draws only .75 AMPs per hour on average running directly off a deep cell marine battery. Purchase a solar panel or two (I purchased two 60 Watt Powerfilm panels), a powerfilm charge controller, Powerfilm 15' extension cord, female DC adapter with alligator clips for the battery, several batteries, a battery meter and your good to go without electricity in an emergency regardless of the duration.
